Description:
Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-22; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 16 - 18. Adults are found in coastal waters near corals and rocks, also in shallow lagoons. Solitary species on inshore reefs. Small groups frequently patrol perimeter of reefs. Juveniles may enter estuaries.
