Description:
Eriphia is a genus of marine
crustaceans in the family Eriphiidae, commonly known as sea spiders (or
pycnogonids). The genus is widely distributed in the world's oceans and
includes both pelagic (open water) and benthic (bottom-dwelling) species.
Carapace length 36-42 cm; carapace breath 47-57 cm. the carapace is dark
greenish with the appendages slightly lighter. The fingers are light green to
yellowish. The carapace is roundly fan shaped and slightly convex. The carapace
and chelipeds are devoid of hairs and
the chelipeds are asymmetrical with left
chelipeds are slightly larger. The merus is finely granulated and serrated
along the dorsal margin.
