Characters:
Setaria digitata is a filarial parasite inhabiting the peritoneal cavity of the cattle. S. digitata is a round ivory coloured with smooth cuticle and has a length of 65 – 75 mm and breadth of 0.5 to 0.7 mm for females and 35 – 45 mm and 0.2 to 0.3mm respectively for males. The oesophagus is 6 – 7 mm long, the anterior part measuring 0.5 to 0.6 mm and the posterior part 5.5 to 6.5 mm. At the tail end there is a terminal spherical knob that may be perfectly smooth or slightly rough with a papillated surface. The lateral caudal appendages are well developed.
