Description

It is a simpe ascidian. Individuals fairly large, oblong to pyriform, compressed laterally. Size ranges from 9.5x7x4 cm. Siphons are more or less prominent, widely separated, cross slit, each with ur lips. The test is thick, translucent and cartilaginous. It contains numerous knob-headed, echinated, unbranched, calcareous spicules.

The present investigation revealed the presence of 9 families, 22 genera and 53 species from the three stations together which have been identified up to the species level and key to genera and species have been given.
